Gilbert Barranco
Gilbert was born in Mexico and started playing at the age of 7 for the local team , Club Deportivo Loreto. 3 years later he joined club Deportivo Oratorio , which eventually gave him the opportunity to join Club Deportivo Atlas, one of Mexico’s most famous clubs. That led to the opportunity to come to the United States after being recruited to play for Anza College. It was an amazing experience playing at the college level and having the opportunity to meet so many great friends.
Some of his favorite memories include playing for some of the top teams in the Bay Area including Latinos Kaza, Club Farolito and Club Ambassador’s.
Gilbert has coached at many of the top clubs and high schools on the Peninsula including Menlo College, Menlo School, Palo Alto High School, Los Altos High School, Juventus Soccer Club, Woodside Soccer Club and Stanford Soccer Club. He has some great memories of the state cup and CCS finals. Gilbert holds a USSF D license. His biggest rewards come from helping kids to improve and to make a difference on their skill level and to have a passion to always get better.
